This season, we are incredibly proud to celebrate two of our own—Head Golf Professional Kyle Kunioka and Head Teaching Professional Corey Kozuma—as they represent our Club with distinction on the local, regional, and national stage.
Kyle Kunioka Named 2025 Aloha PGA Golf Professional of the Year
We’re thrilled to announce that MPCC’s Kyle Kunioka has been selected as the 2025 Aloha Section PGA Golf Professional of the Year, the section’s highest honor. In a field of 230 PGA members and apprentices across Hawai’i, this award highlights Kyle’s consistency, thoughtful leadership, and commitment to the game.
“This achievement is only possible because of the support, trust, and culture at Mid-Pacific Country Club,” said Kyle. It is truly meaningful to represent this club, our membership, and staff at the Section level, and I am grateful to be part of such a special community.
Kyle’s career in Hawai’i golf began in 2010 as an apprentice at Turtle Bay Resort, where he built a foundation in golf operations and player service. He later sharpened his instructional expertise with the Brian Mogg Golf Academy before being elected to PGA membership in 2014.
Prior to joining the Mid-Pacific family, Kyle served as the Head Golf Professional in private clubs for eight years, and became known for balancing tradition with a forward-looking approach. His passion for mentorship and education was previously recognized in 2023 when he received the PGA’s Professional Development Award.
Kyle was honored earlier this month at the Ho‘olaule‘a Awards, held on February 7, 2026, at the Japanese Cultural Center, where the golf community gathered to celebrate their own. This well-deserved recognition carries forward a proud MPCC legacy, as Kyle follows in the footsteps of Mark Sousa, who was honored with the same PGA recognition in 2015.
Kyle’s leadership in the golf community continues to grow as he takes on his elected role on PGA Aloha Section Board of Directors, where he was voted in as Secretary—a tremendous responsibility and a point of pride for Mid-Pacific Country Club.
Corey Kozuma Represents MPCC at the Sony Open
The competitive spirit of our Club was on full display as member the Club’s Head Teaching Professional Corey Kozuma realized a lifelong dream by competing in the Sony Open in January, making his PGA Tour debut after qualifying as last year’s Aloha PGA Section Champion.
“I would like to thank everyone here at Mid-Pacific Country Club, especially those who made it out to Waialae to watch me compete at the Sony Open,” said Corey, who fought hard through two rounds, finishing with an even-par 70 on Thursday and a 74 on Friday. While he narrowly missed the cut, his presence in the 120-player field, one of only two local golfers, represented the skill and sportsmanship of Mid-Pacific Country Club.
Reflecting on the week, he expressed deep gratitude for the support he felt from the community:
“It was an incredible week, and although I missed the cut, it was an experience I will remember forever. I’m so grateful to have shared the experience with you and I’m truly humbled by the kind words and messages.”
We are incredibly proud of Corey’s performance and the way he represented the Club on the world stage. We look forward to seeing him on the leaderboard again soon!
