Roosevelt High School graduate Chloe Jang captured her first career Jennie K. Wilson Invitational title on Sunday at Mid-Pacific Country Club, defeating two-time champion Alexa Takai in a dramatic sudden-death playoff on the 18th hole.
Entering the final round one shot behind Takai, Jang delivered steady, composed golf under championship pressure, carding an even-par 72 to finish the three-day championship at 76-73-72—221 (+5). Takai, a two-time Jennie K. Wilson Invitational champion, finished at 75-73-73—221 (+5) to force the playoff.
The championship was decided on the 18th hole, where Jang prevailed in a memorable playoff finish to secure one of Hawaiʻi women’s amateur golf’s most meaningful titles.
Jang credited her sharp short game as the deciding factor throughout the week, especially while navigating Mid-Pacific Country Club’s thick rough and demanding championship setup. She also shared that her calm approach during the high-pressure finish came from a “let go, let God” mentality.
Following her victory, Jang expressed her appreciation to the Mid-Pacific Country Club staff for hosting the event, thanked her fellow competitors for a strong and competitive tournament, and shared that she hopes to return next year to defend her title.
Jang, who began playing golf at age 11, is entering her third year at Utah Valley University and looks forward to turning professional after completing her college career.
The 2026 Jennie K. Wilson Invitational once again brought together a talented field of women golfers and continued the proud legacy of one of Hawaiʻi’s premier women’s amateur golf championships. The tournament celebrates competitive excellence, sportsmanship, and the continued growth of women’s golf in Hawaiʻi.
